Home Insurance Appraisal Services in CT

When you and your insurance company can’t agree on the value of a property damage claim, you don’t have to settle for less. Through a formal process called insurance appraisal, you have the right to dispute the insurer’s offer and fight for the fair payout you deserve.

At The Public’s Adjuster, we offer expert CT home insurance appraisal services designed to help homeowners level the playing field. Our deep understanding of policy language, valuation practices, and the appraisal process allows us to protect your interests—every step of the way.

When Should You Consider a Home Insurance Appraisal?

If your insurer has undervalued your property damage appraisal or is refusing to pay what you believe is fair, invoking the appraisal clause in your policy could be the next step. This is not the same as a lawsuit—it's a structured and policy-backed method of dispute resolution.

Our team has helped countless Connecticut homeowners and business owners resolve underpaid or disputed claims using this exact process.

The Appraisal Process: What to Expect

We guide you through every phase of the insurance claim appraisal process to make it as smooth and stress-free as possible. Here's how it works:

Step 1: Invoking Your Appraisal Clause

You (the policyholder) will write a letter to your insurance company stating your decision to invoke the appraisal clause due to a disagreement on the value of the claim. This letter must be sent by certified mail or electronically with confirmation. Both sides must select an appraiser within 20 days of the written request.

Step 2: Selecting Appraisers

Each party selects an independent, impartial, and knowledgeable appraiser. You should choose someone with expertise in the type of property loss involved—someone like The Public’s Adjuster, who does not and will not work for insurance carriers.

Each party pays for their own appraiser.

Step 3: Completing the Process

Both appraisers will assess the loss separately or together. If they agree on a value, the process ends there. If not, they’ll jointly select a neutral Umpire appraiser. The Umpire may conduct a review or inspection, and the majority decision of any two of the three appraisers becomes the final, binding amount. The insurance company is then obligated to pay the awarded amount within 60 days of the filing.
